Business Spotlight: MettleLab
MELBOURNE, Australia – April 17, 2026 – MettleLab today announced the launch of Australia’s first dedicated training program built specifically for modern producers working in in‑house teams, production houses and creative agencies.
Despite the critical role producers play in TVCs, content and advertising campaigns, there has never been a dedicated, in person training pathway in Australia. MettleLab is changing that.
As more Australian brands build in-house teams (around 78% of marketers now produce content internally), producers are being asked to do more with less, often without the structured training or support they need. At the same time, a rapidly evolving media landscape, increasing regulatory complexity, and the rise of AI-driven workflows are adding new layers of pressure to an already demanding role.
MettleLab is led by two working producers, delivering a modern approach for the modern producer. MettleLab equips the next generation of producers with the tools, confidence, and insight to deliver smarter, higher-quality productions. Their mission is clear – to raise the standard of the industry one producer at a time.
“Producers have always been expected to sink or swim. But production is more complex than ever, and that approach is failing the next generation.” said [Sara Pethybridge], co-founder of MettleLab. “MettleLab was created because we knew there was a better way.”
“Our vision is a confident, well‑supported next generation of producers who are trusted partners to creatives, clients and crews,” said [Izzy Watts], co‑founder of MettleLab. “If we think the work we see today is impressive, imagine what’s possible when producers are properly trained and set up to succeed.”
MettleLab offers three complementary training streams to support producers at every stage: the two-day in-person Producer Masterclass for emerging and mid-level producers; personalised 1:1 mentorships for hands-on guidance during big projects or career steps; and bespoke in-house consultancy for brands building internal production teams, helping them strengthen processes, boost confidence, and deliver smarter, more creative productions.
“I’ve seen firsthand the challenges emerging producers face. There is no formal pathway dedicated to equipping them with the skills and knowledge to navigate today’s complex and highly regulated production landscape. The Producer Masterclass is a much-needed initiative that will have a lasting positive impact on the industry.” — Michael Ciccone, Head of Production at Truce Production Co.
Applications are now open for MettleLab’s inaugural intake, with the first workshops commencing on 25th and 26th May 2026. To register your interest, visit mettlelab.com.au
