New starter alert! Meet Dan Talia
Our team in Melbourne keeps expanding! We’re thrilled that Dan Talia has joined the team – he’s an ex-creative turned recruiter, and brings a unique perspective of both the industry and the people within it.
We sat down and had a chat with Dan so you can get to know him a little better.
What do you do at Creative Natives?
I’ve joined Creative Natives as Client Partner – and what a time to get amongst it! I’m so excited to be here. There’s a certain buzz within the team that I love, and I can’t wait to get out and meet more of our awesome clients as I settle in and continue to do great things for an industry I love.
What do you love about recruitment?
It’s so simple really – I love meeting people.
Every interaction I’ve had with clients is so, so different. It generally always starts with a chemistry session over a flat white and can range, for example, to scoping out your creative resource plans for the next twelve months. We’re problem solvers in a very people centric industry – the secret is to listen.
Why did you want to join Creative Natives?
Having come from the advertising industry, I’ve had my eye on Creative Natives since its inception five years ago. They had managed to penetrate a difficult market and navigate some pretty harsh lockdowns. No easy feat for a business! Since I ventured into recruitment, Ryan and I have had lots of chats and we were aligned on so many things, so the move felt like a natural fit.
How creative are you?
My journey began at Penguin Books where I was a graphic designer developing the creative output for the marketing team. Skip a whole lotta years and I was so lucky to be a part of the brilliant minds at The Monkeys. I have lots of appreciation for great (but simple) creative ideas and design craft.
If you weren’t in your current role, what would you be doing instead?
Oh that’s a tricky one! If the sky’s the limit – I’d be a pilot on a commercial airline.
If you could be a guest on any podcast, what would it be and why?
The podcasts I’m listening to at the moment are true crime about murder and mayhem – so I’d love to not be involved in any capacity!
What are you reading / watching / listening to right now?
I’ve been watching Baby Reindeer and it’s single handedly the most compelling and terrifying thing on Netflix at the moment. So brilliant!
Cats or dogs?
Dogs.
Best trip you’ve been on?
My partner and I went to South Africa last year and I have to say it was the most adventurous holiday I’ve ever been on. Spotting animals on game drives in Kruger Park is something I’ll keep with me forever. So much fun!
What’s your hidden talent?
Impersonating Moira Rose when I’ve had a few drinks.
